Search all 161,697 words by spelling or by meaning, keep a floating bubble on screen, and press Ctrl+Alt+D on a word selected in any program — a browser, a PDF, Word, a terminal — to see its entry. The whole dictionary is inside the installer, so it works with no connection at all.
How do you install it?
Double-click the file. It installs for your user account only, so there is no administrator prompt, and LexiFloat appears in the Start menu.
Why does Windows say “Windows protected your PC”?
Because the installer is not code-signed yet. Signing costs money every year, and this is a free app made by one person. Choose More info, then Run anyway. If you want to be sure the file is the one published here, check its SHA-256 first, as below.
Using it
Ctrl+Alt+D works as soon as LexiFloat is running: select a word anywhere and press it. LexiFloat copies the selection, shows the entry, and puts back the text, picture or files that were on your clipboard. The Windows build is new — it is installed and tested on Windows automatically for every release, but reports from real PCs are welcome: write and say what happened.
Does it use the internet?
No: the app contains no code that connects to the internet and never does; the operating system does not lock it out the way the Flatpak sandbox does. See the privacy policy for what it stores and where.
Verify your download
In PowerShell, in the folder you saved it to:
Get-FileHash .\lexifloat-1.1.0-windows-x64.msi -Algorithm SHA256
The result must match the SHA-256 above, which is also listed in SHA256SUMS.
